At CrossFit Dwell, we love to share the inspiring stories of our athletes! Brittany and her husband, Brent, are a prime example of what it means to embrace the CrossFit lifestyle and build strength together. Originally, they joined a CrossFit gym to get in shape for their wedding. However, they quickly realized that CrossFit offered so much more than just a way to prepare for their big day. It became something they loved doing together, and they were drawn to the strong community, the variety of workouts, and the incredible strength they gained.
Their journey continued when they transferred to our current location in 2017, back when it was under different ownership. We’re grateful that Brittany and Brent chose to stay with us when Lauren and I became the affiliate owners of CrossFit Dwell in 2022. They’re a fantastic couple, and it’s been a joy to watch them grow and thrive in our gym.
CrossFit Dwell: Surpassing Expectations
When we asked Brittany if CrossFit was everything she expected before signing up, she enthusiastically replied, “Yes! Everything and more! Except when we first started, we were always worried about getting in someone’s way because we thought ‘CrossFit was intimidating,’ but then we realized everyone is just working out for themselves. You vs. You!”
This sentiment is spot on! Many people worry that they won’t fit in at a CrossFit box or that they’re not athletic or strong enough. However, as Brittany and Brent soon discovered, CrossFit is a sport that anyone can do. Every workout is scalable to an individual’s current fitness level—whether it’s movements, weights, or cardio, we can find the right modifications for every athlete.
Transforming Lives Inside and Outside the Gym
One of the things we love to hear from our clients is the changes they’ve experienced since starting CrossFit. Brittany shared that she and Brent saw drastically changed body composition —they’ve seen more muscle definition, greater endurance levels, and more strength both inside and outside the gym. This is exactly what we strive for at CrossFit Dwell! We want the benefits our athletes gain in the gym to carry over into their everyday lives.
It’s our mission to ensure that our athletes achieve their personal goals, whether it’s improving body composition, seeing more muscle definition, or increasing endurance. Our business is coaching, and our goal is to make sure our athletes are reaching their goals.
Proud Moments and Future Goals at CrossFit Dwell
When we asked Brittany what she’s most proud of achieving, she said, “I’m most proud just to do the workouts at CrossFit, whatever they are! I just think that no matter if I have to scale a workout, I’m doing better than a lot of people in this world who don’t work out, so I’m proud of myself for showing up and putting the work in for my future self!”
Her words couldn’t make us happier. Brittany understands that the effort she puts in now is worth it for her future self. Even though showing up for workouts she isn’t thrilled about can be a mental challenge sometimes, she said, “Once the workout is done, I’m always glad I went.” As she looks to the future, Brittany aims to continue improving her strength, endurance, and mobility.
Advice for Newcomers: Start Your Journey with CrossFit Dwell
Finally, we asked Brittany what advice she would give to her past self or to someone considering starting their fitness journey with CrossFit Dwell. Her answer? “Just do it! Don’t think about it too much, or you’ll get in your head. Just focus on what weights you CAN lift, or the cardio you CAN do, and improve on that every single day.”
